Speaking of more dog teams, this is Mahi, a new puppy born in March under the Detector Dog Breeding Programme. Mahi, means “work” in Te Reo Māori and is a fitting name for a biosecurity dog destined to protect our borders for a living!

Mahi is now with a foster family to be socialised before undergoing formal training. If you, or anyone you know, might want to foster a detector dog puppy in the future, you can find more information about the progamme online here.
