Yanika up for Young Grower of the Year

Our very own Yanika Reiter is a contestant at this year’s Bay of Plenty Young Grower competition and we wish her all the best in what we’re sure will be another wonderful day of regional talent and expertise on show.

Yanika, one of eight contestants in this year’s competition, grew up on a small lifestyle block in Otumoetai, and she now lives on her own small avocado orchard in Aongatete. Yanika studied as a marine biologist, gaining a Masters of Science from the University of Waikato. She made the leap onto land after taking up a role as a Biosecurity Advisor here at KVH, which allows her to pursue her interest in biosecurity.

Spectators are welcome to watch the competition - a series of theoretical and practical events during the day, designed to test contestant’s knowledge and skills in a competitive and fast-paced environment. In the evening there’s a gala dinner which includes the speech component of the competition and the awards ceremony.
