App makes reporting pests easy

One of the best ways we can work together to protect our industry from unwanted pests and diseases is everyone out on our orchards gathering and reporting information about potentially new and unwanted threats.

Reporting is easier than ever with the Find-A-Pest app, free to download onto your phone from the Apple and Google app stores.

You can easily submit photos, and any additional information (i.e., where pests were found, damage, size) straight from your phone. We’ve allowed for offline reporting, which means if you are out of Wi-Fi range or mobile reception, your report will be uploaded when you return to service.

The app includes up-to-date factsheets and a list of pests specific to the kiwifruit industry. The factsheets cover pests that are already established in kiwifruit - this helps you to keep a watchful eye on your surroundings and look for likely threats – as well as exotic unwanted pests, such as the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB).

The app is designed to be used in unison with reporting to KVH (0800 665 825 or [email protected]) – don’t ever hesitate to contact us if you’re ever worried that what you’ve found is a new-to-New Zealand pest or if you’re unsure of what to do next.
