Biosecurity Business Pledge incorporation event

In mid-December KVH attended the incorporation of the Biosecurity Business Pledge (the Pledge), a partnership that aims to help all New Zealand businesses take a proactive approach to their biosecurity practices.

The Pledge launched in 2019 with just over 40 members and today now has a membership of over 400 businesses from across New Zealand industries who are dedicated to biosecurity in New Zealand. By taking a proactive approach, individual businesses help protect our economy, unique natural environment, and our way of life. KVH, has been a member of the Pledge since its launch and is widely involved in work to ensure that biosecurity risk is managed not only across the kiwifruit industry supply chain but by other businesses as well.

The incorporation event was well attended by Pledge members, who also participated in a biosecurity response simulation demonstrating the importance of being prepared for the arrival of exotic pests and diseases. Additionally, the new Minister for Biosecurity, Andrew Hoggard spoke about the importance of the partnership and how it demonstrates practical solutions by businesses who are committed to protecting their own business interests and New Zealand.
