In late November our Chief Executive Leanne Stewart joined a group of officials from across the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to strengthen response leadership skills.

This programme was designed by MPI to build on the existing capability of officials already operating in the response space, by giving them tools to more effectively lead response operations when there is a biosecurity incursion or an environmental adverse event.

Leanne found this course very interesting, especially learning from the MPI team about their experiences in response and what has worked well or could be improved. This programme is a demonstration of MPI’s intention to continually improve the way they lead responses and their willingness to involve industry highlights the importance of the relationship we have both as a GIA partner, but also as valued members of the primary industries.
