The Government Industry Agreement for Biosecurity Readiness and Response (GIA) celebrates its 10-year anniversary in 2024, marking a decade since the GIA Deed was first signed by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and KVH. At a recent meeting of the partnership, this milestone was acknowledged.
There are now 23 industry partners signed up to the partnership, a significant achievement that reflects the commitment of industry groups, such as KVH, to work with government and other primary sector groups to improve readiness for future biosecurity events and jointly respond to future outbreaks.
Importantly, GIA also creates a framework where industry groups and the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) - as the government’s representative - can participate in shared decision making and associated cost sharing for readiness and response activities, leading to better biosecurity outcomes for growers. Over the past 10 years KVH has seen a significant transformation in the way biosecurity readiness and response activities are undertaken, which can be credited to the commitment of both the government and industry partners.
KVH is a proud, active member of GIA and we look forward to continuing to collaboratively building continued biosecurity resilience on behalf of the kiwifruit industry.
KVH investigates reports of unusual symptoms to identify and manage any biosecurity risks.
