Seen something unusual? MAKE A REPORT
Biosecurity and pest and disease topics were blended for the KVH activity at the Gisborne Young Grower of the Year in mid-July.
This is the second year KVH has tested the biosecurity knowledge of up-and-coming leaders in the kiwifruit, pip fruit and boysenberry sectors in the region. Focus was on the impacts and entry pathways of potential biosecurity threats for the region; the value of business biosecurity plans; and the importance of social licence to operate.
Connected communities was a topic highlighted, and close to the heart of a region which rallied together so well following Cyclone Gabrielle.
Apple bobbing, gumboot throwing, and three-legged races broke up the day ahead of the gala dinner where Emily Samuel from Thompson’s Horticulture was awarded the Gisborne Young Grower of the Year.
KVH investigates reports of unusual symptoms to identify and manage any biosecurity risks.
