Biosecurity workshop webinars

01 December 2021

Please join us online for one of our biosecurity planning webinars.

Over the last month we’ve been in growing regions and alongside post-harvest running our free workshops on on-orchard biosecurity planning and implementation of the proposed new Pathway Plan. Thank you to everyone who came along – it was great to meet you and be able to help you put your plans together on the day. The events were popular, and we had great feedback about how useful they are, so we’re pleased to be able to offer additional online options.

The webinars will run from 4.00pm to 5.30pm and you’ll be able to address your on-orchard biosecurity programme so that you can log off and walk away with a developed plan that suits your property and manages your biosecurity risk. Having such a plan will be a Zespri GAP requirement and attending the workshop will help with that achievement.

As a group, we’ll talk through the benefits of having a plan that identifies practices to help you enhance biosecurity measures on the orchard and manage the threat of unwanted pests and diseases. At previous workshops people have told us this works well and “working it through as a group was so much easier than trying to do this at home alone, now I have a completed plan”.

We’ve also commonly heard “I was expecting it to be more tailored for senior management, but actually it is perfect for people on the ground like me” and “it’s common sense really, most of this stuff I’m doing already but I can see the value in putting it together in a written plan.”

To help develop plans we have produced a 5-step template booklet available on our website here (which you can download and print), or please let us know by email if you would like us to send one to you. The same plan template is also available online (via your KVH login) which is easy and practical to fill in, save, and edit at your convenience. If you don’t already have a login, you can register here.

The webinars are open to all, including growers, orchard managers/teams, and people responsible for more than one orchard or property. If you’ve already attended a workshop and would like to come along again for some or all of a webinar you are also more than welcome.
