Zespri and KVH have conducted a Psa resistance monitoring programme since 2011. This aims to track copper and bactericide resistance trends and detect early any significant changes, allowing for measures to be implemented before control options become ineffective.
For the 21 orchards monitored, bactericide resistance and the trend for copper resistance have remained stable over this time providing confidence in current Psa management tools.
More recently, the merit in expanding the regional coverage within the resistance programme has been identified; 10 original orchards will continue, allowing trend analysis, while flexibility for another 10 high-risk sites, including Red19 is now available.
Growers keen to learn more about this programme can connect with Zespri Innovation and read more here.
KVH investigates reports of unusual symptoms to identify and manage any biosecurity risks.
