KVH staff attended an event last week to learn more about latest work happening at the Bay of Plenty Biosecurity New Zealand office to keep the region safe from pests and diseases.
Although we work closely, and regularly, with many from the regional office this was an opportunity to find out about the wide range of work the large team do on a daily basis – from pre and post border protection through to biofouling.
We heard from Stu Hutchings – New Zealand’s Chief Biosecurity Officer, Sham Baldeo – Team Manager North Ports, and Abigail Robinson – Senior Advisor about the varied and interesting operational aspects of local biosecurity as well as the important preparation work underway as our borders re-open and the passenger and cruise ship pathways return.
The event was the latest in a series for all Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital (TMBC) partners, aimed at strengthening our relationships and connectedness, and highlighting the impact we are all having on improving regional biosecurity. KVH is a funder and active partner of the initiative, and if you’d like to learn more or come along to future events like this please get in touch.
KVH investigates reports of unusual symptoms to identify and manage any biosecurity risks.
