Fruit fly exercise

The Fruit Fly Council (FFC) recently held a capability exercise to ensure key response delivery partners are aligned in how we would work collectively in a fruit fly response.

This was timely as it has now been five years since the most recent response, the 2019 Queensland Fruit Fly Response in Auckland.

The exercise stepped through the key elements of a response and used the lessons learnt from 2019 as a framework to gauge how these improvements have been incorporated into response systems.

Exotic fruit flies remain one of our most significant biosecurity threats, with the next high-risk season beginning in September.
