Seen something unusual? MAKE A REPORT
You may have seen or heard this headline in the news recently: Man caught attempting to smuggle 104 live snakes in his pants at China border.
It isn’t something you see every day and when we talk about invasive species spread, we normally refer to the accidental spread by people, and the things we have with us like footwear, tools, or machinery – easily combated with good biosecurity practices and hygiene.
Unfortunately, sometimes intentional movement or smuggling is responsible for the spread of an invasive species to a new area, heavily regulated around the world and here in New Zealand, as was the case in this instance - please don't smuggle snakes in your pants!
