KVH attended the Forest Biosecurity Conference earlier this month, a great opportunity for staff to spend time with researchers and experts from across the wider New Zealand biosecurity community.
The conference focused on the value and benefit of science and research in strengthening the biosecurity system. Key research of interest for KVH included operational biosecurity improvements to the forest nursery systems, primarily focussing on Phytophthora, and the innovative tools being developed in the surveillance area - a real focus area for KVH in the future.
Highlighted during the two-day event were the concepts of biosecurity being everyone’s responsibility, and partnerships and collaboration being crucial to a successful biosecurity system now and into the future. This was encouraging as these have been guiding principles for KVH for some time and show that we continue to be a leading organisation and the forefront of biosecurity thinking.
KVH investigates reports of unusual symptoms to identify and manage any biosecurity risks.
