Global biosecurity leader honoured

We were delighted to read this week that distinguished Professor Philip Hulme of Lincoln University has received the prestigious Shorland Medal for his outstanding contribution to biosecurity science.

Many readers will know of Phil, a leader in biosecurity research and former member of the Zespri Innovation Kiwifruit Biosecurity Advisory Group.

His research underpins strategies to prevent and manage invasive pests and diseases, and he leads the Centre for One Biosecurity Research, Analysis and Synthesis (COBRAS), working closely with many industry groups like KVH to deliver practical solutions that safeguard horticulture and agriculture.

Ranked among the world’s top 0.1% of scientists, Phil’s work helps growers and industry stay ahead of emerging threats and we congratulate him on this award.
