Seen something unusual? MAKE A REPORT
We were delighted with the turnout at our biosecurity tent at the Te Puke A&P Show on 14 February. We connected with more than 250 people from across the community, all enjoying a day out in our largest growing region.
Visitors enjoyed watching shield bugs munch through vegetables, prompting plenty of discussion about the potential impacts of pests such as Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) on home gardens and commercial orchards alike.
The Queensland fruit fly display also drew strong interest, with many surprised at how such a small insect can create such a big biosecurity stir.
Hearing about technology used to locate Yellow-legged hornet nests in Auckland proved a real highlight, particularly for beekeepers and young visitors keen to understand how science is helping protect all of our pollinators.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, the lively conversations reminded us that biosecurity really is everyone’s business.
