Keep it clean: protect our regions when supporting flood recovery

If you're helping with recovery efforts in flood-affected areas, it's vital to keep biosecurity top of mind when moving equipment, vehicles, or materials to and from affected sites.

Soil, plant material, and debris can carry pests, diseases, or invasive weeds to areas you’re travelling to and around. To help protect our orchards and growing regions, follow these key practices and stay biosecurity safe:

  • Visually inspect, clean and sanitise all vehicles, tools, and machinery before travel and before return.
  • Remove all soil, plant material, and organic matter.
  • Keep footwear and personal gear clean.
  • Specific protocols apply before moving vehicles, machinery and equipment from the North Island, across the Cook Strait to South Island kiwifruit orchards or nurseries. Refer to the KVH website or call KVH on 0800 665 825 for more advice.
