Last week the Right Honourable Andrew Hoggard, Minister for Biosecurity, visited the kiwifruit industry to get an understanding of how we manage threats from new pests and diseases.

Hosted by KVH Chief Executive Leanne Stewart, the Minister visited Southern Cross Horticulture to meet with Andrew Dunstan to get a comprehensive overview of the kiwifruit production system, from nursery, to development, to harvest.

The Minister also visited the Kiwifruit Breeding Centre where Chief Executive Matt Glenn gave an overview of the industry’s breeding programme, including the intention to develop cultivars that are tolerant to a range of threats in the future.
