Stopping stink bugs

Latest data shows there have been 15 live Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs (BMSB) detected recently, both border and post-border, in a range of goods and cargo, mostly from North America and China.

The new KVH risk update for BMSB is out now and covers the formal reporting period of 17 November – 21 December.

Highlighting the importance and value of public reporting after travelling or unpacking international goods, one BMSB was found in the luggage of a passenger unpacking after arriving in New Zealand from Switzerland.

At the border, single live stink bugs were found at transitional facilities (where goods are inspected before they are released) in cargo such as plastic wrap; tyres; sawn timber; and stone veneer cladding.
