Seen something unusual? MAKE A REPORT
A new Biosecurity system action plan has been released, and you can get involved.
There are many parts to our national biosecurity system to manage risks offshore, at the border, and within New Zealand. Those parts include people, tools, technology, processes, and rules.
While New Zealand’s system is working well, biosecurity threats are growing in scale and complexity. As kiwifruit growers will be aware, risk pathways (the ways new and unwanted pests and diseases can get here), along with climate, are changing. There is increasing pressure from both new and established pests and diseases.
The new shared action plan helps people and organisations across the biosecurity system work together. It’s concise and tangible, with 16 clear actions across four strategic themes.
This is where you come in. Biosecurity is a shared responsibility and work now starts bringing the plan to life. Many organisations, including KVH, have already said they will be part of it and there is a short survey for you to let Biosecurity New Zealand know how you or your organisation could contribute.
Stay updated by visiting the action plan webpage for the latest developments or check the call to action document.
KVH investigates reports of unusual symptoms to identify and manage any biosecurity risks.
The KVH portal is now the Zespri Weather & Disease Portal. Access all the weather tools you're familiar with.
