Successful Neonectria workshop

Thank you to all those who came to the Neonectria workshop in Motueka last week. The workshop was popular with over 35 growers, industry folk and scientists coming along to share their experiences.

Alongside Zespri and Plant & Food Research, KVH hosted the event to reconnect with South Island growers to understand what is happening on the ground in the region regarding Neonectria; and to share knowledge from research into the disease as well as other organisms associated with vine decline. Once the research update had been provided, it was out into the field to observe symptoms first-hand. This was a great opportunity for growers to see up close and personal how Neonectria typically presents itself on the leaders and trunks of impacted vines.

There was also an opportunity for hosts to sit with growers (from the South Island and Kerikeri) to gain a greater understanding of how Neonectria is being managed on-orchard and draw some valuable management lessons going forward.

A special thank you to Liam McLean for hosting the on-orchard portion of the day and sharing his knowledge.
