Trans-Tasman engagement strengthens fruit fly readiness

Last week, on behalf of the Government Industry Agreement for Readiness and Response (GIA) Fruit Fly Council, KVH meet with Australian counterparts to stay informed on latest fruit fly research and identify opportunities for collaboration in biosecurity readiness.

The visit included attendance at the Fresh and Secure Trade Alliance (FASTA) Symposium and meetings with the Australia National Fruit Fly Council. FASTA is a $130 million research programme focused on supporting market access and improving understanding of high-risk pests such as fruit fly.

These Trans-Tasman engagements are a vital part of our readiness planning. They enable us to learn from those managing fruit fly challenges daily, while also addressing shared exotic threats we have in common.
