Seen something unusual? MAKE A REPORT
Are your vines still feeling the impact of the excessive rain and weather events in 2022 and 2023 that saw immediate flooding and damage to orchards?
Are your vines looking stressed and starting to collapse? If you answered yes, please join tomorrow’s Zespri webinar to hear from Italy-based staff who are all too familiar with water-logged soils.
It was in Europe that the term Kiwifruit Vine Decline Syndrome (KVDS) was developed after changed weather conditions, combined with sub-optimal irrigations practices, and soil management saw large scale vine decline and death across much of the Hayward and some Gold3 orchards in Italy. An Italian Task Force was set up in response and is now three years into a significant multi-year research and extension programme to better understand and manage KVDS.
During the webinar Zespri’s Italian counterparts, who are currently in New Zealand, will share with you their expertise on KVDS, classification, recovery and regeneration along with research that is relevant to New Zealand.
